If you want to know how to get the job you deserve, even if you have had difficulty in the past, then this system is for you. Every aspect of the interview is covered in this system and soon you will sitting at your desk at your ideal job.
When two or more people are in rapport, you will notice that they behave in very similar ways. For instance, friends in a bar will drink at the same time, will sit in a very similar way and talk at a similar tone and frequency.
What is great about this is that we can use this natural occurrence to our benefit.
In interviews, we need to develop rapport with the interviewers and we can use rapport building techniques to do this.
When we match and mirror the interviewers body position, we can develop rapport at an unconscious level to gain an advantage over other interviewees. There are a few exercises given below for you to go through to learn how to develop rapport instantly with the interviewers.
Sit in the same way as the interviewer & don't be blatantly obvious with this as the interviewer will soon cotton on and wonder what you are doing! You need to be subtle and mirror his/her actions. For instance, if the interviewer crosses their legs, do the same. If they lean forward, do the same. If they bring their hand to their face, move in a similar fashion remembering to be subtle. Practice this with friends and see the results you get. Try sitting in a complete opposite way and see their reactions – this will show you how important this technique is to perform!
Next, keeping the first exercise in mind, you need to take this a step further and learn how to match the interviews voice tonality and frequency. What pitch is their voice? How quick do they speak? What type of language do they use? Again, you will need to match their approach. Listen out for the characteristics of their voice and match them. This will again lead to greater levels of unconscious rapport and you will be streets ahead of the competition.
The next exercise is for you to consider for the rest of your life. You must eliminate the words but
and try
from your vocabulary. Why? But
is an instant rapport breaker. For example, what do you think when people say to you, I understand, but…
? You think that they have not listened and definitely dont understand! It is a negative word – you will do much better if you replace but
with and
. How much better does, I understand and …
sound? Precisely.
The word try' needs to be eliminated as well. What does
try’ do? It negates what you are saying. For example, what do you immediately think when somebody says,
I will try and get that completed by Monday
? That's right, you will expect it no earlier than Tuesday and that’s if you are lucky. So just take it out of your language as of today.
Every time you notice yourself saying these words you can just tell yourself, I slipped up and that won’t happen again.
Soon enough, these words will be eliminated.
